Department of Vocal Music

Since its founding, the Department of Vocal Music has graduated numerous professional vocal talents, many of whom have won prizes in music competitions at home and abroad. It has a strong team of teachers, including 6 professors, 10 associate professors, 6 lecturers and assistants, in addition to 9 faculty in piano accompaniment, 2 teachers of acting and movement, 6 master tutors. Among them, not only are there the eminent senior professors with extensive professional experience and who have cultivated many talented students, but also promising junior faculty, some of whom have even been abroad for pursuing further studies. The faculty have been cultivating diligently in their respective fields of teaching cautious and conscientious. This faculty has diligently worked to develop a high level of musicianship among their students, stressing the importance of being able to communicate with professional both at home and abroad. Within this department there are four sections of instruction: European bel canto, vocal techniques for Chinese folk music, piano accompaniment and vocal performance. In addition, the only curriculum in China for vocal pedagogy and diction was founded in this department several years ago, has now had a great impact on the teaching of voice across the country. Many graduates are now leading members of national and military artistic organizations and musical institutions.

Facing the challenge of the new century, the faculty of the department have continued to interact with each other departments to contribute to the prosperity of vocal music education in China.
